Essential Oils: R to Y

Rose Geranium - Middle Note: A cooling, harmonising, balancing oil, known for it’s healing, astringent, and hormone regulation properties. It is also a good oil for treating depression and anxiety, as it brings mind and body together and balances extremes. Aroma similar to that of Geranium with a stronger floral note.

Blends well with: Citrus oils, Basil, Chamomiles, Clary sage, Fennel, Frankincense, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Neroli, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood.

Rose Maroc - Base Note: Strengthening, inspiring, uplifting oils, known for their gorgeous rich floral odour and great for stress, anxiety and depression. Also good for a wide range of physiological disorders including digestive and menstrual problems, and poor circulation. Said to ‘inspire our highest nature’.

Blends well with: Benzoin, Bergamot, Chamomiles, Clary Sage, Geranium, Jasmine, Lavender, Neroli, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Sandalwood.

Rosemary - Middle Note: A warming, stimulating, purifying oil, known for its ability to protect against infection, strengthen muscles, and stimulate circulation. It is also great for improving concentration and memory, and stimulating the senses.

Blends well with: Basil, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Chamomiles, Eucalyptus, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemongrass, Lime, Marjoram, Niaouli, Peppermint, Petigrain, Pine, Tea tree, Thyme.

Rosewood - Middle Note: A calming, mild oil, especially useful for skin care. It stimulates the immune system so is good for combating colds, coughs, and fevers. It is also good for alleviating stress, headaches and nausea.

Blends well with: Most oils especially citrus, woods, florals.

Sandalwood - Base Note: A cooling, calming oil, known for treating skin conditions, and conditions of the respiratory and urinary systems. It promotes peace, clarity, and harmony, and is good for preparing for meditation and treating depression and stress-related complaints.

Blends well with: Benzoin, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Fennel, Geranium, Ginger, Jasmine, Juniper, Lemon, Lavender, Neroli, Patchouli, Petigrain, Rose, Rosewood, Vetiver.

Tea Tree - Top Note: A warming, stimulating, clarifying oil, well known for its ability to kill bacteria and hence fight infections and disinfect (can be used neat). Particularly used in this context for skin, respiratory, and genito-urinary conditions. Good for depression and fatigue.

Blends well with: Clary Sage, Cypress, Geranium, Lavender, Marjoram, Niaouli, Pine, Rosemary.

Thyme - Top Note: A warming, stimulating, clarifying oil, known for its ability to prevent/treat infections, clear respiratory congestion, and treat digestive conditions. As it is stimulating it is also good for weak circulation and low blood pressure. It is mentally uplifting, reviving.

Blends well with: Citrus oils, Bergamot, Clary Sage, Cypress, Lavender, Marjoram, Melissa, Pine, Rosemary.

Vetiver - Base Note: A deeply relaxing, calming, grounding oil, excellent for stress, depression, and anxiety. It balances and is a tonic for the hormonal system and hence good for the menopause and post-natal depression. It is good for skin conditions and has proven especially effective for hormone-related facial acne in women.

Blends well with: Clary Sage, Geranium, Jasmine, Lavender, Neroli, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang.

Ylang ylang - Base Note: A restorative, cooling oil, known for its heavy floral scent and aphrodisiac properties. It is excellent for regulating the heartbeat, and also for other conditions such as high blood pressure, tachycardia, shock, anxiety, panic, restless legs. It cools hot emotions.

Blends well with: Citrus oils,Benzoin, Bergamot, Geranium, Jasmine, Lavender, Rose, Rosewood, Vetiver.
